rest, reflection + renewal

findingrest
Rest. It's hard to come by these days, isn't it? I always seem to place it on the back burner, because I have this, this, and this to do. "Rest can happen later" is what I kept telling myself almost every day in October. By the end, I was worn out. I was feeling irritable, moody, and extremely impatient ( which in my line of work I need all the patience I can get! ). I was barely getting by. My body, my mind needed rest.

There's something magically refreshing about taking intentional time to rest, and that's what I plan to do this month. November is dedicated to rest, reflection & renewal. I am going to take care of my body. I am going to take care of my mind. I am going to take care of me. No excuses. I plan to:

+ GO TO A CONCERT: I finally get to see one my favourite bands, Paramore, live this weekend! Words can't describe how pumped I am. Coincidentally, Emily and Tommy are going too!

+ GO TO THE MOVIES: I already have tickets to see Catching Fire, but I want to see Ender's Game, About Time, and Thor: The Dark World too. Any other movies I should add to my list?

+ DECORATE MY OFFICE SPACE: I have made all kinds of plans for my space, but haven't actually done any of them. That is all going to change. In order to rest, I have to have a pretty space to do it in, right?

+ QUALITY TIME: November marks the start of the holiday season. It's a time to spend with your family and friends laughing, eating food, and just enjoying each others company. I want to take advantage of this. However, I also want to take quality time with myself whether that be taking a walk, soaking in a bubble bath, or experimenting with a new recipe.

+ READ A BOOK OR TWO: I bought Allegiant the day it came out and have yet to read it. I also have an ever-growing to-read list on Goodreads to tackle.

+ REFLECT ON MY DAY: Take 10 or so minutes before bed to write about my day. Even if nothing extraordinary happens.

+ HAVE A DESIGNATED BEDTIME: Go to bed by 10 PM every night. This means no scrolling through Pinterest either.

All in all, rest is essential and we have to find what's best for us. So, how about you? How do you rest?

  6. This is so inspiring - I feel like we all need to take time and rest and do things for ourselves. It looks like you have a lot of nice things coming up this month! And it's funny, I've also been trying to go to bed at 10pm now :)
