let's get coffee, part 2

letsgetcoffeept2
Happy Thursday, friends! I hope you are all having a wonderful day so far. I really enjoyed our last time together so I thought it was about time for another coffee date. Like last time, I'll ask and answer some questions and you can answer any or all of the questions in the comments below.

01. Who is your favourite author?
02. Do you have a favourite colour?
03. Were you named after anyone?
04. What is your favourite form of exercise?
05. What is one of your favourite quotes?
+ This is a hard one for me, but I would have to say Jane Austen. I have read each of her books 5 times over and I would read them all again.

+ Orange. It'll all started back in elementary school when my best friend and I were obsessed with all things Tigger. I had Tigger sheets, bedspread, figurines, stuffed animals. I even had a life-sized Tigger. Not joking.

+ My middle name, Ryann, was a concoction my mother created from my great-grandmother's name, Mabel Ann Riddle. Ri - Ann. But she changed the i to a y because she thought it looked better.

+ Hands down, running. It gives me all the endorphins and I feel as if no one can touch me and I could keep going forever. Best feeling ever.

+ "If we find ourselves with a desire that nothing in this world can satisfy, the most probable explanation is that we were made for another world." - C.S. Lewis

I look forward to reading about each and everyone of you!

  1. So great getting to know you better, Danielle! Let's see...

1 // Well, I don't know if I have a favorite - I love reading books, all kinds of books!!
2 // I think my favorite color (at the moment) is blushy pink, but I love color - so I have many favorites :)
3 // Nope, not that I know of!
4 // Yoga! I can do it everyday! And hiking!
5 // "Simplicity is the ultimate form of sophistication" hands down.

    1. I really want to start doing yoga. Have heard nothing but good things! I also really love that quote too. It's so true!

  2. 1. I love Jane Austen too! I've read and reread Pride + Prejudice too many times to count. It's hard though.. I've got a lot of favorite authors!
    2. Yellow! Yellow yellow and more yellow,
    3. Nope! My dad wanted to name me Dorothy (aye), but my mom couldn't pronounce that, so they settled for the most popular name of the year. Original.
    4. I love yoga and hiking!
    5. "There are far, far better things ahead than any we leave behind." - CS Lewis. He's the man!

  3. Danielle, I love this! Great way to get people talking :)

    01. Cheryl Strayed. She is so intense, articulate and this fiery combination of gritty-femme. I love the way her mind plays out on the page.
    02. Orange ;) I'm not sure how I came to love orange so much, but I think it has something to do with the fact that most people are too afraid to wear it, own a car that's orange, etc. It's rare, loud and beautiful. Also, clementines. And some cheeses. And orangesicles. Yum.
    03. Nope! It's Old English for "worthy of love", though, which is nice.
    04. Dance and yoga! I've also been into this Blogilates YouTube channel lately. Her workouts are kind of hyper, but you really get the results and feel so sore the next day. I love that feeling. I can't wait to take more day trips into the mountains and go on lots of hiking adventures.

    1. Now that you mention it, I don't know many people if any who like the colour orange. Weird. It's only the best colour ever :) I'll have to check out Cheryl Strayed. Her writing style sounds right up my alley! It was great getting to know you more Amanda :)

  4. K here goes,

Do not have a favorite author but currently reading Tamara Mellon's "In My Shoes" and it is a great read

No do not have a favorite color either but being a graphic designer I am a big fan of negative space or white space -- less is more.

Hmm not to my knowledge my mom just liked the name "Alicia" which is the Spanish version of Alice which is English. I am a quarter Spanish so this makes sense but I am also a quarter English so she could have named me Alice too.

    Yoga

Um back to number two "Less is more"

  5. This is such a great post, and so lovely to get to know you better as well. :) Alrighty, here goes:

    1. Margaret Atwood. Robber Bride was my gateway drug and I've yet to read anything of hers that didn't totally blow my mind.
    2. I love a good, solid red.
    3. They love to pretend it was after the Greek actress Melina Mercouri, but I was really named after the Bond girl in For Your Eyes Only. :P
    4. Right now I love any sort of Barre-style exercise. Though my perennial favorite is hiking.
    5. This is tough for me and I actually really love that C.S. Lewis quote, but I would have to go with the old Mark Twain standby: "It's not the size of the dog in the fight, it's the size of the fight in the dog.

  6. I love this and loved reading the other comments as well!

+ So hard to decide for me as well, but I agree on Jane Austen! And maybe Ian McEwan (you know that already ;) and Paul Auster.
+ Two and three sadly no. I like all the colours (maybe peach or mint is my favourite) and my parents just liked the name.
+ I really, really don't like exercise, but I've gotten into Pilates lately.
+ And I love the C.S. Lewis quote as well, just as I love all his quotes (I even subscribed to 'his' Twitter channel ;).

    1. It was so hard for me to pick just one C.S. Lewis quote.....all of them are just so perfect! Might have to follow 'him' on Twitter :)

  7. Oh I just love this "grab a coffee" idea. Perfect way to get to know your readers...

    01. Who is your favorite author?
That's tough! I have too many! One of my favorites is C.S. Lewis though. Brilliant man.
    02. Do you have a favorite color?
Green! Any shade...they're all so beautiful.
    03. Were you named after anyone?
My first name is after my Grandma (Julia), and my middle name is after my Granny (Faye). :)
    04. What is your favorite form of exercise?
Probably where I'm DOING something. Like biking or rock climbing or tennis...something that's distracting my mind from the lack of ability to breath. haha
    05. What is one of your favorite quotes?
"Humility isn't think less of yourself, it's thinking of yourself less." C.S. Lewis
That quote has been impacting my life a lot lately. It's really eye opening!

    1. C.S. Lewis really has a way with his words, doesn't he? He is always challenging me and making me really think. I like that. Great getting to know you a bit more :)

  8. Love this idea! Great quote by C.S. Lewis :) And your middle name is beautiful!

    1. Jane Austen is also my favorite author. Pride & Prejudice will always hold a special place in my heart.
    2. I like cool colors, so I always find myself drawn to shades of blue. But the exact shade I love changes.
    3. Sadly, no. My parents were going through a Southern phase and thought they'd have me go by "Kristy Lee" (my middle name is Lee), but I just go by my first, Kristyn, thankfully.
    4. I love dancing. I danced ballet for years and always wish I could go back to it. For now, yoga suffices. It's a little more relaxing but still great.
    5. I love this one: "Change your thoughts and you change your world." -Norman Vincent Peale. Just reminds me that happiness is a choice I must choose for myself each morning :)

Enjoying catching up on your blog!
